Finitu is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works on any device. Install it on your phone for an app-like experience with push notifications and camera access.

Installing on iOS (iPhone/iPad)

Open in Safari

Open Finitu in Safari. This is required – other browsers like Chrome don't support iOS PWA installation.

Tap the Share Button

Tap the share icon at the bottom of the screen (square with upward arrow).

Add to Home Screen

Scroll down in the share menu and tap 'Add to Home Screen'.

Confirm Installation

Review the app name and tap 'Add'. The Finitu icon will appear on your home screen.

Pro Tip

Once installed, open the app from your home screen for the full app experience. This enables push notifications and full-screen mode.

Installing on Android

Open in Chrome

Open Finitu in Chrome (or Edge). These browsers have the best PWA support.

Look for Install Prompt

Chrome may show an 'Install App' banner at the bottom or top. Tap it to install.

Or Use the Menu

If no banner appears, tap the menu (three dots) and select 'Install App' or 'Add to Home Screen'.

Confirm Installation

Tap 'Install' in the dialog. The app installs and appears in your app drawer.

Pro Tip

Android generally supports more web app features than iOS, so some features may behave differently on iPhone.

Push Notifications

Get real-time notifications on your mobile device:

Enabling Notifications:

  1. Install the PWA on your device (required for iOS)
  2. Open the app and log in
  3. When prompted, tap "Allow" for notifications
  4. If you missed the prompt, enable in Settings → Notifications

Notification Types:

  • Task assignments and mentions
  • Due date reminders
  • Time tracking reminders (if enabled)
  • Direct messages
  • System announcements

Important

On iOS, push notifications only work when using the installed PWA app. They won't work in Safari browser.

Camera Features

The mobile app uses your device camera for:

  • QR Code Scanning: Scan location or task QR codes for quick check-in
  • Photo Evidence: Capture photos when completing tasks
  • Profile Avatar: Take a photo for your profile

Camera Permissions:

  1. When you first use a camera feature, you'll see a permission prompt
  2. Tap "Allow" to grant camera access
  3. If you denied previously, go to your device Settings to re-enable

Pro Tip

For best QR scanning results, hold your device steady and ensure good lighting. The scanner works with most QR code sizes.

Internet Connection

Finitu needs an internet connection. It does not store data for offline use. You need a connection to:

  • Load tasks, projects, checklists, and time entries
  • Check in and out for time tracking
  • Create, update, or complete tasks
  • Send messages
  • Scan QR codes

Important

If your connection drops, wait until you are back online before checking in or out so the entry saves correctly.

Scenario 1

First Day Using the Mobile App

You've just been given access and need to get set up on your phone.

  1. Open Finitu in Safari (iOS) or Chrome (Android).
  2. Log in with the credentials provided by your administrator.
  3. Install the PWA using 'Add to Home Screen' for the best experience.
  4. Allow push notifications when prompted so you receive task alerts.
  5. Allow camera access for QR code scanning when first needed.
Scenario 2

Checking In at a Job Site via QR Code

You've arrived at a work location and need to clock in.

  1. Open the Finitu app from your home screen.
  2. Navigate to QR Codes → Scan or use the quick-scan shortcut.
  3. Point your camera at the QR code posted at the location entrance.
  4. Enter the location password if prompted.
  5. You're checked in — your GPS location and timestamp are recorded.
Scenario 3

Completing a Task with Photo Evidence On-Site

You've finished a task that requires a completion photo as proof of work.

  1. Open the task from your notification or the Tasks page.
  2. Complete any required checklists attached to the task.
  3. When marking complete, tap 'Add Photo' to capture evidence.
  4. Take the photo using your device camera.
  5. Add completion notes and submit — the task is marked done with your evidence attached.
