Inbox

The Inbox is your central hub for notifications and messages. Stay informed about task assignments, mentions, completions, and communicate directly with team members.

Notifications

The Notifications tab shows all your alerts and updates:

Notification Actions:

  • Click: Open the related item (task, project, etc.)
  • Mark as Read: Remove the unread indicator
  • Acknowledge: For task assignments, confirm you've seen it
  • Dismiss: Remove from your inbox

Pro Tip

The notification bell in the header shows your unread count. Click it for quick access to recent notifications without leaving your current page.

Acknowledging Task Assignments

When you receive a task assignment, you can acknowledge it to confirm you've seen and accepted the task:

Find the Assignment Notification

Look for 'Task Assigned' notifications in your Inbox or click the notification bell.

Review the Task

Click the notification to view the task details. Ensure you understand the requirements and due date.

Acknowledge

Click the
Acknowledge
button to confirm. This lets the assigner know you've seen the task.

Pro Tip

Acknowledgment is tracked and visible to administrators. It helps managers know that their team has seen assigned work.

Messages

The Messages tab allows you to send and receive direct messages with team members:

Sending a Message:

Open New Message

Click
New Message
to compose a new message.

Select Recipient

Search for and select a team member from your organization.

Compose Your Message

  • Subject: Brief summary of the message topic
  • Content: Your message text
  • Attachments: Add files if needed (optional)

Send

Click Send to deliver your message. The recipient will receive a notification.

Reading Messages:

  • Unread messages appear with a bold indicator
  • Click a message to read the full content
  • Reply directly from the message view
  • Messages are organized by conversation thread

Push Notifications

Enable push notifications to receive alerts even when you're not actively using Finitu:

  1. When prompted, click "Allow" to enable browser notifications
  2. Or go to Settings → Notifications to manage preferences
  3. Choose which types of notifications you want to receive
  4. Notifications will appear on your desktop or mobile device

Pro Tip

On mobile devices using the PWA, push notifications work like native app notifications. Enable them for the best experience.

Scenario 1

Catching Up After Time Away

You return from vacation or time off with many unread notifications.

  1. Open your Inbox and switch to the Notifications tab.
  2. Sort or filter by priority to surface task assignments and mentions first.
  3. Acknowledge any task assignments so managers know you've seen them.
  4. Mark informational notifications (completions, system alerts) as read in bulk.
  5. Click into any critical items to review details and respond.
Scenario 2

Coordinating Urgent Task Handoff

A high-priority task needs to be acknowledged and acted on immediately.

  1. Check the notification bell for the incoming task assignment alert.
  2. Click the notification to open the task details.
  3. Review the requirements, due date, and any attached files.
  4. Click Acknowledge to confirm you've accepted the task.
  5. If you need clarification, send a direct message to the assigner from the Messages tab.
Scenario 3

Following Up on Unacknowledged Assignments

As a manager, you need to check which team members have seen their assigned tasks.

  1. Navigate to the task in question and open its detail view.
  2. Check the acknowledgment status to see who has confirmed receipt.
  3. For unacknowledged assignments, send a direct message via the Inbox Messages tab.
  4. Include the task name and due date in your follow-up message.
  5. Monitor the notification for an acknowledgment response.
Scenario 4

Staying Informed on a Project Without Being Assigned

You want updates on a project's tasks without being directly assigned to them.

  1. Open the project and subscribe to its notifications.
  2. You'll receive alerts when tasks are created, completed, or commented on.
  3. Use the Inbox Notifications tab to follow progress without cluttering your task list.
  4. Adjust subscription preferences in Settings if updates become too frequent.
